However mounting the coil in the upright position is best and will increase the overall life of the valve by keeping any debris from settling on the diaphragm which can affect sealing. – Leaving the valve powered on for long periods of time will reduce the life of the coil, like most solenoid valves the coil will become hot, but the temperature will stabilize without failure. (A normally Open valve might be a consideration if the valve needs to remain open for long periods of time).
